Rules for the Summer

Rules for the Summer is a standalone summer romantic comedy centred on Renley Gossage, a determined young woman trying to restore a struggling candy shop in the seaside town of Cape Meril. She is determined to succeed on her own, without financial help or shortcuts. Then Theo Williams arrives unexpectedly. After a drunken game of truth or dare leads to a bizarre online engagement, Theo travels across the ocean and turns up with a diamond ring and a proposal. His wealthy father is threatening to cut him off, and marrying Renley could solve his problem. For Renley, meanwhile, Theo could provide the financial backing she needs to save her candy shop. They agree to a simple arrangement: one fake engagement, one summer and absolutely no romance.But their plans quickly become complicated. Renley and Theo become neighbours and spend more time together while she works to renovate the shop. Between collapsing walls, meddling neighbours, Renley's eccentric aunt and Theo's attempts to win her trust, their fake relationship starts feeling increasingly real.

Renley has always equated independence with refusing help, while Theo is trying to escape the expectations and control of his wealthy family. As the summer progresses, both must decide whether their arrangement is merely temporary—or whether they have unexpectedly found something worth keeping.
